Hey, I’m Sanata, a visual artist located in cologne.
My work reflects my desire to experiment, observe and engage with people. I like to spend time thinking about the ability to be in relationship and how to cultivate a sense of belonging. My professional background is in the field of intersectional youth work, so I’m used to think about power relations, which is also part of my artistic work.
I explore all these themes through different forms of storytelling, in drawings, paintings, comics and illustrations. I am inspired by colours, lines and contrasts as well as mixed media techniques. I mainly work with watercolour, coloured pencil, oil pastels and graphite, but also with printing techniques and clay.
In my work I aim to use my own experiences and perceptions to connect with other people’s experiences.
